We’ll be refining how we parse various answer types within a Featured Snippet. This change will be visible in STAT on Thursday, June 4th and reflected in your June 3rd data. This decision is in response to the change we made following Google’s Featured Snippet deduplication earlier this year.
Currently, in STAT, all positions within a featured snippet carousel including mixed results with answer tables, paragraphs, lists and videos receive an equal base rank position of 1. With this upcoming change, you will no longer see multiple competing positions having this same base rank. Only the first position will receive a base rank of 1. All positions that follow will no longer appear consecutively in the archived SERP tab and will appear as non-ranking as they did prior to Google’s Featured Snippet deduplication update.
An analysis we completed determined this is a more effective and accurate method of reporting base rank across this SERP feature.
