New Feature: local tracking…worldwide!

Hey there!

We’ve always had a strong focus on supporting both global and local tracking in STAT. We offer tracking in almost every country on Earth, and for almost two years now, we’ve allowed our users to also track keyword rankings within cities in the USA, Canada, and Europe.

Yesterday we took our commitment to global and local tracking a step further. As of now, users can track their keywords in any city, state, postal code, zipcode on Earth. No city is too small, from Lima, Ohio to Lima, Peru, and even here in Vancouver, too!

There are a few ramifications to this change that we want you to be aware of:

  1. Import spreadsheet templates have changed:
We’ve added a new optional ‘location’ column to import spreadsheets. This means that your old import spreadsheet templates will no longer work. When you go to upload a spreadsheet, you’ll be able to download the new templates.
  2. A new ‘location’ column in the keywords table:
The keywords table now has both a ‘market’ and a ‘location’ column in the standard view. Market is a required value for all keywords, but location is optional. If the location column is blank, then STAT is tracking your keywords within the country specified in the ‘market’ column.
  3. Spreadsheet reports all have a ‘market’ and a ‘location’ column:
When you generate a spreadsheet report, STAT will include the ‘market’ and ‘location’ column in the spreadsheets it delivers to you.

That about sums up all of the changes included in this feature release. We hope you find lots of clever uses for being able to track your data in any city, state, province, postal code, or zip code.

As usual, we welcome your feedback! Let us know if you have any questions.

Happy optimizing!
Rob, and the STAT team.
