Customizing your share of voice settings

You can customize your share of voice metrics by adding up to 10 additional pinned sites (at no additional cost) and/or changing the CTR model in STAT.

Pinned sites are exact domains, subdomains, or subfolders that you want to keep a close eye on — whether they belong to you or a competitor. Pinned sites will have share of voice values calculated, even if they’re not in the top 20, giving you daily insights into how they’re performing. Adding a pinned site will impact the share of voice metrics in the Competitive Landscape tab only.

Changes made to the CTR model will affect share of voice metrics in the Dashboard, Competitive Landscape, and SERP Features tabs.

  1. Select a site in your Data Views pane, in the Site Tools pane, click Settings.
  2. Select the Share of Voice tab.
  3. Enter the site domain, subdomain, or subfolder:
    • Domains are matched exactly, so “www.example.com” does not include “example.com” or “shop.example.com” or “example.com/blog/”.
    • Do not include schemes (“http://” or “https://”).
  4. Click Add.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Click Yes to confirm.

Your pinned site will now appear in your share of voice charts and tables. It may take up to 24 hours for this data to be calculated. Pinned sites are identified with an asterisk.

  1. Select a site in your Data Views pane, in the Site Tools pane, click Settings.
  2. Select the Share of Voice tab.
  3. Hover over the site you want to remove and click the minus [-] icon.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.
  5. Click Save.
  1. Select a site in your Data Views pane, in the Site Tools pane, click Settings.

Your values should be percentages and expressed in decimal format, which can go up to four decimal places. The % symbol is not required. For example, a CTR of 34.76 percent should be entered as 0.3476.

Your model should total no higher than 1 and may add to less than 1. Changes take up to 24 hours and are not retroactive.
