Hi there! We hope you’re all having a lovely start to February. If you’re anything like us Canadians, winter is a great time to get out for some skiing or hikes in the mountains, and a perfect excuse to sit in a hot tub with a cold beer. If you’re not a fan of winter, just remember: spring is right around the corner!
I want to let you know about some changes we’ve made today to the way Import Data works in STAT. Import Data is the function that you access via the Options menu at the top of your screen. The Import Data function in STAT can be used to create and populate new Projects, Folders, Sites, Keywords and Tags. Historically, it has also been possible to use the Import Data function to add new keywords/tags to existing sites.
As of today, we are more strictly separating these two functions and it is no longer possible to use Import Data to add new keywords/tags to existing sites. From now on, Import Data will only be used for setting up new Projects, Folders and Sites. If you wish to upload keywords to existing sites, you must use the Upload Data function accessible by right-clicking on a site in the Projects Tree or by selecting it from the Add Keywords menu at the top-left of the Keywords Table.
So, if you’re setting up a brand new project for the first time, use Import Data via the Options menu at the top of your screen. If you’re adding new keywords/tags to an already existing site, use the Upload Data function available via right-clicking on the site in the Projects Tree or via the Add Keywords menu at the top-left of the Keywords Table.
We made this change because we found that customers were sometimes trying to add keywords to an existing site using the Import Data function, but because of a small typo or other mistake, they ended up creating whole new sites with the keywords they just wanted to add to an existing site. This led to users having fractured keyword sets across several sites, and confusion ensued! We hope that this change will make it easier for our clients to administer their sites without having to worry about making mistakes.
As usual, we love hearing from you, so, if you have any feedback, just let us know! You can email us at support@getSTAT.com
