Hey there,
We’ve been working hard to simplify the keyword and tag import process lately.
One of the problems users seem to often face is that the tags in STATs database are case-sensitive. So, a user might import a keyword into the tag “Car”, and then a week later, they might import more keywords into the tag “car”. When this happens, users will end up with two tags in their site: “Car” and “car”. Obviously, this is not what users expect, so we’ve made some changes to prevent this sort of thing from happening.
The most noticeable change is that tags are now all lower-case by default. When you save a tag to STAT, even if it is uppercase, STAT will save it as lowercase by default. This is the same way we treat keywords in STAT, they are automatically converted to lowercase when you save them.
We made this change so that we can standardize the way data is saved and displayed in STAT so that we can prevent any duplication of your tags when you’re performing imports.
We hope that this helps cut down on any confusion or accidental duplication when you’re importing your keywords into STAT.
As usual, we welcome your feedback! Feel free to get in touch with any questions or concerns you might have.
Thanks!
Rob, and the STAT Team.
