In an effort to streamline the app experience, we’ve done a little spring-cleaning in STAT (even though it’s the middle of summer).
STAT is all about focusing on what we do best, and doing it better than anyone else out there. It’s important to us that we’re only investing in features that our clients really want and use. So, from time to time, we take a look at areas that we can clean up and make more streamlined.
Tag colours
First off, we got rid of tag colours. We talked to a number of you, did some research, and learned that few people were setting custom tag colours — it just makes more sense to use data views for grouping tags. So, to keep things simple and eliminate the distraction, we’ve removed the option. You’ll now see that all tags in STAT are a lovely, calming shade of blue. So pretty!
Indexed pages
Second, we retired the indexed pages metric that used to be visible in the Dashboard tab. STAT used to collect this data by conducting a “site: operator” search on Google for your site URL. We found that this data was unreliable, and that everyone uses Google Webmaster Tools to get indexation data anyway.
Site backlinks
While we were removing indexed pages, we decided that it was time to clean out another under-loved part of the Dashboard tab: site backlinks. Our clients just don’t turn to us for that data, which has nothing to do with SERPs. Plus, there are many other great tools that do that job very well, including Majestic, Moz, and others.
In short, we’ve made STAT a bit tidier today, and we hope this adds up to a sleeker and more focused experience for everyone. It also allows us to focus all of our energies on launching a bunch of new client-driven features in the coming months — stay tuned!

Many thanks,
