New feature: Ranking distributions for Google base rank

Sometimes it’s helpful to be able to measure your ranking performance without universal results muddying the waters. That’s why STAT has always tracked both Google rank (including universal results) and Google base rank (excluding universal results).

Now we’ve added Google base rank to the Ranking Distribution tab, to make it easier for clients to visualize their base rankings with no universal results in the mix.

To get started, click on the Metric drop-down above the chart. You can now choose Google Base Rank in addition to Google Rank, Yahoo Rank, and Bing Rank. (The new ranking distributions are also available through the STAT API.)

Select Google Base Rank from the Metric drop-down to see your Google ranking distributions without universal results.

This is handy for getting instant insight into which keyword segments or verticals are affected the most by universal search results. That in turn makes it easier to understand where it may be more strategic to focus your optimization efforts on Google’s universal search algorithms.
